116 illegal Bangladeshis detected from 2018 till date

Shillong, Sep 16: The state in the last four years has detected 116 illegal Bangladeshi migrants and 16400 “inter-state migrants without proper documents”.

Informing the House during Question Hour, on Thursday Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said, “For the inter-state migrants without proper documents (they) have been pushed back to Assam and for Illegal Bangladeshi migrants, 44 are currently in jails and 72 have been deported.”

The Home Minister informed the House that for inter-state migrants without proper documents, in 2018 – 5460 were detected, in 2019 – 7626 were detected, in 2020 – 2122 were detected and this year till September 1 – 1192 have been detected

Meanwhile, in 2018 – 36 illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators were detected, in 2019 – 18, in 2020 – 37 and in 2021 till August 31 – 25 were detected.

Moreover, Rymbui also informed that there are 30 Infiltration Posts in the state.
