Shillong, Sep 16: The state in the last four years has detected 116 illegal Bangladeshi migrants and 16400 “inter-state migrants without proper documentsâ€.
Informing the House during Question Hour, on Thursday Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said, “For the inter-state migrants without proper documents (they) have been pushed back to Assam and for Illegal Bangladeshi migrants, 44 are currently in jails and 72 have been deported.â€
The Home Minister informed the House that for inter-state migrants without proper documents, in 2018 – 5460 were detected, in 2019 – 7626 were detected, in 2020 – 2122 were detected and this year till September 1 – 1192 have been detected
Meanwhile, in 2018 – 36 illegal Bangladeshi infiltrators were detected, in 2019 – 18, in 2020 – 37 and in 2021 till August 31 – 25 were detected.
Moreover, Rymbui also informed that there are 30 Infiltration Posts in the state.
