Shillong, Sept 18: The 133rd anniversary of the Unitarian Church was commemorated in Meghalaya on Friday amid restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However services were conducted by the Church by using technology to reach out to the followers.
September 18 is the foundation day of the Unitarian Church in Khasi Hills of Meghalaya founded by Hajom Kissor Sing along with his followers in 1887.
This year, the theme of the celebration was “All people are God’s children.”
Members of the Unitarian Church used to get together to observe the Day but this year, services and programmes like torch procession, and feasts have not been included in view of the COVID-19 situation.
The foundation day was commemorated by members of the Church in Jaiñtia and Khasi Hills by following the protocols. COVID frontline workers were felicitated by the Church on the occasion.
