Meghalaya Entrepreneurship Recognition Award supports entrepreneurs

Shillong Sept 21: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the Meghalaya Entrepreneurship Recognition Award has supported entrepreneurs and start-ups in the state.

Every month the government recognised an ‘Entrepreneur of the Month’ and help them expand their business by awarding them One Lakh rupees.

The initiative also gives them the opportunity to network and connect with investors and help build their market strength. My government is committed to supporting our entrepreneurs who shape our state’s ecosystem and help our economy thrive.

Stories of three entrepreneurs from our state who were also awarded include Mr. Perastill R. Sangma of ‘Aslida Food Products’ is a manufacturer of products made of locally available fruits. Through the award money, Mr. Perastil has now built a small production facility for his business.
Dasumarlin Majaw of ‘Smoky Falls Tribe Coffee’ is an organic coffee manufacturer. Ms. Dasumarlin’s business started in her garage at home and today, she also runs a small café at Khyndai Lad, Shillong.

James E. Dkhar of ‘Nela Handloom Training Centre’ is a textile producer who trains and employs local weavers. Mr James now has a growing local market and continues to empower local weavers.

The Chief Minister’s Meghalaya Entrepreneur Recognition Award is also supported by the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship (MIE) which is a Nodal institution in the State for facilitating rapid economic transformation through entrepreneurship education and promotion of micro-enterprises involving the youth, women and other critical target groups in the State.
