Government extends lockdown in East Khasi Hills till June 21

Shillong, Jun 11: With the COVID-19 positivity rate continuing to be high, the ongoing lockdown in the East Khasi Hills district, which includes state capital Shillong, has been further extended up to June 21.

“Though the number of positive cases have come down in a few districts but since the positivity rate is still in the danger mark, Government has decided to extend the lockdown in East Khasi Hills district till June 21, 2021,” Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma announced after a review meeting on Friday.

He said the other deputy commissioners in the state have been empowered to decide for other districts, where lockdown is in force.

Sangma said that “few relaxations” would be allowed as deemed fit by the respective Deputy Commissioners and up to 20 percent of non essential shops may be opened in certain areas in the State, adding that the Deputy Commissioners may also permit up to 20 percent of commercial vehicles to operate.

“The above relaxations will be decided by the respective Deputy Commissioners based on the local conditions,” the Chief Minister underscored.

Meghalaya: Lockdown extended in EKH till June 21, twenty percent non-essentials shops will be allowed

Shillong June 11: To content the spread of Coronavirus , Meghalaya government on Friday extended the lockdown in EKH district for another one week, week-long lockdown comes with relaxations allowing twenty percent non-essential shops to open as regulated by DC.

Meghalaya Chief Miniter Conrad K. Sangma informing this said that the government has empowered the Deputy Commissioners of  other districts  to decide as per the prevailing local situation whether to extend lockdown in their respective districts  or not.

However, Lockdown in EKH will continue upto 5 am of  June 21.

Earlier, Meghalaya government announced lockdown/Containment measures till morning of June 14.

COVID 19 UPDATES: Meghalaya records 514 new positive cases, 526 recovers

‘Covid-19 cases in the state could be upto 25 times the numbers recorded’

Shillong, June 11: Meghalaya on Friday registered 514 new COVID-19 cases, which pushed the tally of active cases to 4,993, the health department said in a bulletin.

Meanwhile, the state also records 526 new recovered cases in last 24 hours, with this the total recovered cases reaches 35,393.

10 more succumbs to the infections in last 24 hours, taking total number of fatalities from COVID-19 infection to 714 so far.

10 death were reported from East Khasi Hills 07 and 01 each in  West Jaintia Hills, Ri Bhoi and West Garo Hills .
