3 health staff from Ri Bhoi found positive via Truenat test, all interviewees asked to undergo home quarantine for 14 days

Shillong July 14: Shillong July 14: Three contractual staff of the state health department who appeared for an interview for the post of data entry operator (DEO) in the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Nongpoh, have been suspected to be COVID-19 positive after they tested positive through a truenat test.

This has compelled the Ri Bhoi district administration to ask all candidates who had appeared for the walk-in-interview on July 11 to go for home quarantine for 14 days.

The three health staff used to have duty at the check gate at Byrnihat, and they appeared for the interview for the DEO post at Nongpoh on July 11.

After the truenat test showed positive, the state health department has taken their samples for RT-PCR test on Tuesday, and the results are awaited.

DHS (MI), Dr Aman War while confirming this, said that the truenat test was conducted after the three staff complained of health problems, and the truenat test came out positive.

“The three persons have been immediately brought to a Corona Care Centre in Shillong. It is a suspected case of COVID-19, and the RT-PCR test is being conducted for confirmation,” Dr War said.

He informed that the district administration of Ri Bhoi district has issue advisory to all the candidates to ensure no spread of COVID-19 in case the three staff who had appeared for the interview, tested positive through RT-PCR.

“All persons who appeared for the walk-in-interview are advised to go for home quarantine for 14 days with self monitoring of their health by wearing masks, social distancing & hand washing,” Deputy Commissioner, R M Kurbah said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The statement said that should any of the symptoms – fever, cough and difficulty in breathing developed during the quarantine period, one should first isolate himself/herself and contact the district control room no 03638232028/1077 and health helpline no. 8787520449.
