65-year old woman dies of COVID, toll rises to 102

COVID-19: Meghalaya records 69 new cases, 70 recovers from virus

Shillong, Nov 17: With the registration of a 65 years old woman who died of COVID-19 in Tura, West Garo Hills district took the number of fatalities due to the virus has gone upto 102 in the State.

The State also recorded 85 fresh cases of viral infection taking the number of active cases to 734, even as 283 more recoveries surged the number of recovered persons to 9,955.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said the fresh COVID-19 positive cases detected in the State on Tuesday included 46 from East Khasi Hills district, 18 from West Garo Hills district , 14 from South West Garo Hills district , two each from East Garo Hills district, Ri-Bhoi district and South Garo Hills district and one from East Jaintia Hills district.

With 273 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, including Shillong is the most affected district in the State, followed by Ri-Bhoi district with 111 active cases and West Garo Hills district with 107 active cases.

He said the recovered cases recorded today included 172 from Ri-Bhoi district, 64 from East Khasi Hills district, 15 from South Garo Hills district, 14 from West Jaintia Hills district, eight from South West Garo Hills district, four from West Garo Hills district, three from East Jaintia Hills district, two from East Garo Hills district and one from West Khasi Hills district.

Meanwhile, of the 2,23,084 persons tested for COVID-19 till date, 2,12,293 tested negative even as 59,626 persons entered from outside as per the latest official count.
