73 new COVID-19 positive cases confirmed in Meghalaya

Shillong, Sept 21: Meghalaya reported 73 new COVID-19 positive cases while 15 patients recovered from the viral infection on Monday.

Two more patients have also succumbed to COVID-19 on Monday, taking the total deaths to 38.

DHS (MI) Dr Aman War informed that one COVID-19 patient, Ranjit Kumar Das (75)  from Karimganj in Assam also passed away at NEIGRIHMS on Monday. However the case will not be counted in Meghalaya because the patient had tested positive for COVID-19 in Assam.

With 73 new cases, the total COVID-19 cases to 4,734 which include 2,169 active cases, 2,527 persons who have recovered, and 38 deaths.

East Khasi Hills district recorded the highest number of active cases with 1,569 (245Armed Forces/Paramilitary forces, and 1,324 others), 273 in East Jaiñtia Hills district, 129 in West Garo Hills district, Ri Bhoi 138 (42 Armed Forces/Paramilitary forces, and 96 others), West Khasi Hills 13, South West Khasi hills 06, West Jaintia Hills 10, South West Garo hills 14, South Garo Hills 08, East Garo Hills 05 and in North Garo Hills 04.

The new cases were 59  from East Khasi Hills district, 12 from West Garo Hills,  one each from East Jaiñtia Hills  and North Garo Hills district.

The 15  patients who have recovered on Monday include 06 from West Garo Hills district, Ri Bhoi District 04, three South West Garo Hills and two from East Jaintia hills district.
