Shillong, Sep 13: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday told reporters that one cannot just simply sit in a room and go ahead with the appointment of new body of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW).
Stating that procedures have to be followed, Sangma said that applications have to be received and then subsequently screened.
“Obviously because of the Covid situation that process could not take place in the way or the timing that we would have wanted. So therefore there was delay in the entire process,†the Chief Minister said.
He pointed out that if it was the question of simply, the cabinet or the Chief Minister of the Social Welfare Minister appointing, then it would not have been an issue.
Stating that the appointment of a new body of the women commission was at an advanced stage, the Chief Minister informed that now the process has reached the Minister’s table.
Sangma also said that even the appointment of the CIC has been affected due to the pandemic.
