At the 4th WAKO India Open International Kickboxing Tournament held at K D Jadhav, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex from 1st – 5th February 2025, once again Babit Kharsahnoh of Nongpyrdet Ri-Bhoi District and Smit Liamthaw with a ranking of World No.10 in 2021 in Kickboxing retained his International title for the K1 Rules event below 51 Kgs Senior Men category as the National Ranking Kickboxer clinching the Gold medal against his counterpart new entrant Kerborlang Hing from Bhoirymbong Ri-Bhoi District. Babit Kharsahnoh himself has his own Tribal Combat Academy at Madanriting.
At the same time Evangel Pohplet (K1 Rules below 52 kgs Women Senior category of Riat Laban Kynjatphutbol and a student of Lady Keane’s College Shillong BA 4th Semester won against the Asian Kickboxing Silver medalist in October last year by conceding the bout, Lumjingsuk Iawphniaw Low Kick 51 kgs Men Senior category of Mawten SWKHD a student of Sngap Sing College Mawkyrwat along with Derrick Dashankur Nongrum K1 Rules below 54 kgs Junior category of Laitryngew and a Class X Student of St. John Bosco HS School Sohra retained their title as the National Ranking Kickboxer paving the way to represent India at any International Event outside India.

Samebaniar Lyngdoh Mawphlang of Tieh Nongbah village now staying at Mawlai Umjaiur Block 4 and a student of Sacred Heart’s Girl HS School below 18 kgs Point Fighting event Children category catches the audience’s attention being one of the youngest athletes aged 6 to clinch his Silver medal for the first time entry at such mega event sport championship. Then others like Kerborlang Hing of Bhoirymbong Ri-Bhoi District below 51 K1 Rules Men Senior, Dajied Kyrpang Synjri below 37 kgs Kick Light Old Cadet Boy’s of Laitkor Rngi Lad Dewshyiap and a student of St Francis De Sales Laitkor, Malvin Lyngdoh Marshillong of Pyndengumiong Mairang below 60 kgs K1 Rules Men Senior and Joviality Lyngdoh Kynshi of Mairang and a student of Langtor HS School below 40 kgs K1 Junior Female in a well-fought bout but miss the Gold medal.
Bronze Medal 3 Nos: Sakibanshai Nongbri of Pyndengumiong Mairang student of Mairang Presbyterian English Secondary School below 54 kgs K1 Rules event Senior Men, Apbantei Marbaniang of Mairang and student of Khatsawphra College and Higher Secondary School below 71 kgs weight on K1 Rules event Senior Men category and Narimon Nongrum of Jatah Lakadong Mawkynrew Block below 48 kgs weight category with Low Kick event Female Senior Women bagged the bronze, Medal.
