Attack on TMC workers only exposed NPP’s insecurity: Shullai

SHILLONG, FEB 8: TMC candidate from Jowai Andrew Shullai said the attack on the party workers only exposed the NPP’s insecurity.

Shullai also extended support to his fellow Meghalaya TMC candidate from Khliehriat, Sunida Bareh, who was also attacked by NPP workers last year in September.

“These attacks are cowardly and expose the NPP’s insecurity towards the rising popularity of Sunida Bareh in the constituency. We are not afraid of such assaults. Our party, Meghalaya TMC, has always stood up against such attacks. Targeting of this nature will only make us stronger to fight for the rights of our people,” he said.

“Sunida is our brave soldier, who has been voicing strongly for the people of his constituency. His voice has rattled the goons, which is why they resorted to violence against him to suppress his voice,” he added.

Andrew Shullai also threw light on the latest attacks on Meghalaya TMC workers in Phulbari last night, and said, “Even last night, disturbing visuals emerged from the Phulbari constituency where our party workers were attacked by NPP goons in the middle of a meeting. These NPP goons assaulted our workers and vandalised property to spread fear and chaos among the people.”

The Jowai candidate issued an appeal urging appropriate authorities to deploy ample force in the coming days and ensure a smooth movement of voters for fair elections in the state.
