Bernard Marak arrested from Uttar Pradesh

Shillong, Jul 26: A few hours after the Meghalaya police issued a look-out notice against absconding BJP Member of District Council in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, Bernard Marak, he was arrested from Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday afternoon.

A team of Meghalaya police has been sent to bring him back to the state.

Earlier in the day, police issued a look out notice for Marak.

Marak has been absconding after a raid on his farm house in Tura on July 22 claiming that it was being used as a brothel.

A case against him has been registered at Tura Women police station under various sections of Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act, 1956.

The look-out notice has been circulated to all the police stations of all the states and union territories in the country to trace out the accused.

It may be mentioned that the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tura has already issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Marak.
