BJP – CONFIDENT TO FORM GOVT IN 2018

SHILLONG, APR 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today said it would field candidates from all the 60 seats as it is determine to fight the upcoming 2018 state elections alone.

 

“We are preparing to fight from all the 60 seats in Meghalaya and we are determine to fight the elections alone,” Assam Finance Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma said after the party’s 5th SEC meeting held in the city here.

 He however said down the line if adjustment is at all required to be made the decision is left to the party leaders of the state.It may be mentioned here that one of the biggest regional political parties in Meghalaya – the United Democratic Party (UDP) and the National People’s Party (NPP) Meghalaya state are members of BJP led NEDA – a development forum.

 

Stating that the BJP have no issues with its NEDA partners, Sarma said, “However, in a state like Meghalaya, perfect alliance is not possible because of many reasons.”

 “In view of this we will try to contest from all 60 seats. However it does not mean that we closing the door for alliance,” he said while stating that adjustment during election time is a different issue.

The Assam finance minister said that the party is already gearing up its preparation and is confidence to form a BJP government in Meghalaya in 2018.

“Our party is ready to fight the battle in Meghalaya so that next government can be formed by the BJP here. I can tell you with all confidence that Meghalaya will see a BJP government as and when election is conducted,” he said.

He also announced that it would come up with a vision document to make Meghalaya as one of the front ranking states in the country. 

According to him, the vision document for Meghalaya will talk about howthe BJP aims at making Meghalaya as the front ranking state in next five to ten years. 

Stating that party would also soon charge-sheet the Congress led state government in the state, Sarma said, “The charge sheet will reflect the complete mismanagement of governance, corruptions, under-development and also many personal complicity of the Congress leadership in Meghalaya.”

Attacking on the chief minister of Meghalaya, the BJP leader predicts that Mukul Sangma will lose from his own constituency (Ampati) in 2018 as he responsible for the under development of the state. 

“There should not be any iota of doubt that we symbolize Dr Mukul Sangma as the person who is responsible for the under-development of Meghalaya and there will be no political talks and no question of entertaining him in the BJP” 

Asked, Sarma said that during election time people move from one party to another but the BJP will admit only those MLAs whom the people love, respect and like.

 “Though we don’t encourage defection, however admission of persons from other parties will be on the basis of few criteria – he must be like and love by the people of his constituency, he must have some link with our party,” he said.
