SHILLONG, APR 25: BJP legislator and chairman of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) Sanbor Shullai on Tuesday reviewed the implementation of Smart City project and ongoing AMRUT additional water supply scheme of PHE and Municipal Board at South Shillong constituency.
The meeting was attended by SP (City), DSP, nice infotech, officials from IT department, Chief engineer PWD road Executive Engineer PWD Road Shillong central division, Dorbar Shnong of various localities of South Shillong and Secretary of Shillong Cantonment Development Committee.
During the meeting, the Installation of VMD, CCTV, Smart pole ECB & PAS, Implementation of ongoing AMRUT additional water supply scheme of PHE and Municipal Board and repairing of all the potholes was discussed in length.
The SP city Vivek Syiem stated that the installation of CCTV has been designated at strategic locations in order to ensure that any crime committed including theft etc which is a matter of concern can help the police department to identify the crime.
The IT department stated that the installation of VMD will help the general public as all govt information will be displayed at the VMD.
Shullai requested the Dorbar Shnong to help the police department to ensure CCTV be installed at maximum location and to ensure that the property be taken care of by the Dorbar Shnong as the custodian of the locality.
The police department also suggested that most of the commercial shop owners, commercial apartments and residential apartments should install CCTV so that crime committed can be monitored.
The police department stated that several crimes committed have been resolved because of CCTV. Some of the localities have started the initiative.
The MLA stated that such initiatives will ensure a peaceful environment in the locality. The MLA during the review meeting with PHE and Municipal Board for the implementation of ongoing AMRUT additional water supply scheme has given a deadline of 6 months to ensure speedy implementation of the scheme at 19th South Shillong Constituency.
Shullai also asked the PHE Department not to release bills of contractors who are not doing work as per the specification at various localities of South Shillong.
The MLA also asked the PWD department to immediately repair all the potholes and review all the roads of south Shillong which need immediate renovation and repair.
The MLA along with the police department, PWD, PHE and Municipal has resolved to conduct joint inspection to review the implementation of smart City project and also review the implementation of ongoing AMRUT additional water supply scheme of PHE Department and Municipal Board.
