Govt declares 7 villages infected of LSD in cattle

Shillong, Feb 21: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya frontier in its efforts to strengthen the relations with Bangladesh Border Guarding (BGB) force, handed over 15 strayed cattle which had entered into Indian territory while grazing in the bordering area of West Jaintia Hills district to the counterpart.

Troops of 97 battalion of the BSF under Meghalaya frontier had detained these cattle while conducting patrol in the area.

A meeting was conducted between both the forces on the request of Border Guard Bangladesh to address the plight of cattle owners.

BSF officials said that due to partially unfenced areas, border livestock often cross to other side of border and such instances are utilised to enhance confidence building measures and strengthen the relations between both the border guarding forces.
