Citizen petitions Gadkari on dilapidated NH-6

Shillong, Oct 24: A senior citizen of the state has written a complaint letter to Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways over incompetence and failure of the state government.

brought forward the grievances and issues faced by the people of the Jaintia Hills region regarding the NH-6 connecting Shillong, Meghalaya to Silchar, Assam.

Challam stated that the NH-6 has been known to be a lifeline between Jaintia Hills region to the rest of the state of Meghalaya.

“The present condition of the road is pathetic and left unattended with atleast 80 percent of the road stretch has been under potholes,” he said in the letter.

Challam said that the road is at its worst condition for years leaving the public with nothing but hues and cries.

“With the traffic jams and road blocks exceeding hours and hours, the public are left with hardships and facing unconditional problems obstructing the normal transportation and conveyance of the commuters in all sphere of life,” he added.

Challam also alleged that the State’s Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma is busy in attending his party meetings in other states as well as “enjoying his life,”.

“The people of the Jaintia hills region in the state of Meghalaya are now orphaned and left with nothing but dilemma in regards to transportation and conveyance via the NH-6,” Challam stated in his letter to Gadkari.

Requesting the immediate repair of the NH-6, Challam said that the entire Jaintia hills region is now facing adverse hardships due to the failure and incompetence of the present state government under the leadership of Conrad Sangma as the Chief Minister.
