Committee submits report to government on relocation of Harijan Colony

Shillong, Sep 28: The High Level Committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday submitted the final report on the relocation of Harijan Colony to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.

Speaking to reporters, Tynsong who is the chairman of the committee did not divulge the contents of the report stating that after receiving the report the cabinet will discuss it.

“Let us wait till the cabinet sit. Right now I cannot say anything. We have completed out task and today we have submitted our report,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.

The issues to relocate the residents of Sweeper’s Lane, known to the local people as Them Metor is located in the commercial area of Shillong near Ïewduh, one of the busiest markets in the northeastern states, have led to wide speared violence in the State Capital in 2018 after a minor scuffle between the residents and a local bus driver and his relatives.
