Cong MDC slams Dohling for joining NPP for money

Ronnie appointed as CLP leader

Shillong, Jan 11: Congress leader Ronnie V. Lyngdoh slammed Mylliem MLA Hamletson Dohling for betraying the people of the constituency by joining the National People’s Party (NPP) in a bid to chase money over the welfare of people.

Lyngdoh said Dohling, who joined hands with the NPP on January 7, did so despite knowing that the

NPP is a BJP puppet which has completely sidelined minorities of the country.

“If Dohling was a people’s leader and had their support, then why did he desert a senior position in his old party to join the NPP? The answer is obvious. The NPP wants numbers and Dohling wants money,” Lyngdoh said.

“The BJP is attacking minorities all over India. They are breaking down churches and erasing the indigenous faith of tribal people. Even after knowing this Dohling decided to choose BJP’s puppet- party NPP. Till date Dohling has not said a single word against any atrocities committed against tribals,” Lyngdoh added.

Lyngdoh, who is also the MDC of Mylliem, further stated that the five years of NPP has been riddled with corruption and that the party is now trying to cover its tracks by handing out cash before the elections.

“What is the cost of the livelihood of people? 1000, 2000, 5000? If five years of governance boils down to these amounts, then it is simply an insult to the people. The NPP has time and again tried to shed off responsibilities in the five years of its government. The people gave them a chance but they failed. People deserve better now,” Lyngdoh said.

He also added that there was a need to invest more in the youth of the state as there is huge potential waiting to be unlocked. Jobs, education and skill training have been completely ignored over the past five years due to which the future of Meghalaya is taking a hit, he said.
