Shillong, Dec 6: Congress Member of District Council in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), Bajop Pyngrope on Monday slammed its leadership even as he indicated that he may join the TMC.

Speaking at the felicitation programme of TMC state chief, Charles Pyngrope, the Rambrai-Jyrngam MDC said that the former was an inspiration and guide for the young blood which he does not see in the present leader ship.

Pyngrope also said that TMC is a secular party and it respects all religion even as he felt that the people of Meghalaya will accept the party.

He also said that the joining of the 12 MLAs is the beginning of the TMC in Meghalaya and it will form the government in 2023.

The MDC said that Congress as of today has no respect, no regard for the grassroots.

Commenting on the president of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) he pointed out that the in-charge came to Meghalaya, several times and they aired their grievances that they need a new state chief to fight the 2023 elections.

“Most of the MDCs and MLAs decided that we need a balance leader, we need a leader who is not biased. We need a leader who doesn’t favour anyone just because he is family or friends. We need a leader who doesn’t have enemies in any constituency, who doesn’t create confusion in ticket distribution. So we felt that the right leader was Charles Pyngrope,” he said.

Pyngrope said that sadly the AICC through back door a new name popped up for the post of MPCC chief.

“It was an insult on our face. It was an insult to the grassroots. It was a big insult to us that we have signed,” he added.
