Congress reviews party’s performance in assembly bye-elections

No information about AITC MLAs merging with us: BJP state prez

Shillong, Nov 18: After the Congress’ defeat in the recently concluded by-polls in the three constituencies of Meghalaya, the AICC along with MPCC leaders met in New Delhi on Thursday.

At the meeting the leaders resolved to immediately prepare the party on a war footing in order to achieve a desirable result in the 2023 assembly elections.

“The party remains united and in one voice; and will face these elections and ensure that the state of Meghalaya is mandated to be governed by a strong, focused and corruption free government post 2023,” a statement issued by the MPCC stated.

The MPCC also stated that the increase in the vote share in the bye-elections is an encouraging base for the party.

The meeting also resolved to unanimously consolidate on all the strengths of the party in order to effectively overcome hurdles and challenges faced by the party in the run up to the state assembly elections.

The AICC was represented by AICC in-charge organisation, K. C. Venugopal and Meghalaya in-charge Manish Chatrath.

From the MPCC those present were president Vincent H. Pala, leader of opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma, working president Ampareen Lyngdoh, Charles Pyngrope AICC secretary in-charge Manipur, Marthon Sangma and James Lyngdoh both working presidents.
