Congress yet to decide on CM candidate

Vincent Pala appointed new MPCC president

SHILLONG, FEB 9: Congress chief Vincent H Pala on Thursday said that the party does not project a chief minister face in advance.

Addressing pressmen, Pala said, “In Meghalaya, we don’t project a CM candidate in advance. Once the legislators are elected, they will decide as to who will be the chief minister.”

The Shillong MP said, “We have enough people to be the chief minister. So normally we don’t project a CM face but definitely the people will give a mandate and the CM will be chosen by the legislators.”

Pala said all those who were involved in many scams are no longer with the Congress.

“Those who were against the headmen, and those who were involved in the education scam and others are no longer with the party. Today, we can say that people who are in the Congress have no scams as they have never committed any scam be it the previous ministers like Celestine Lyngdoh, Ronnie V Lyngdoh, PN Syiem. I can proudly tell you that those who are involved in many scams are no longer with the Congress,” he said.

He said therefore, if the Congress is given a chance it will ensure Meghalaya has a corruption free government.
