COVID-19 cases decreasing in Meghalaya

Shillong, Feb 23: The number of COVID-19 cases in the state is decreasing with lesser number of active cases being detected daily.

On Tuesday, the state recorded one new case and three recovered from the virus. The latest COVID-19 case was recorded in South West Khasi Hills district.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that Meghalaya has 20 active cases with East Khasi Hills district accounting for 17 of those. The total recovered cases as on Tuesday afternoon is 13787.

West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills and South West Garo Hills have one active case each.

The total number of persons tested till date till Tuesday afternoon is 3, 63, 076 of which 3, 49, 121 tested negative for the virus.

Since the first case was detected in the state 13, 955 persons contracted the virus and 148 deaths were recorded.

The number of tests conducted on Tuesday afternoon was approximately 1200.

Since restrictions on travelling were eased the number of entrants into Meghalaya till date is 92,713.

Dr. War also informed that the total number of health care workers vaccinated till date for the first dose is 16558 and for the second dose its 2247.

The Director of Health Services also informed that the total number of frontline workers vaccinated for the first dose is 16745.
