Meghalaya records one more COVID-19 death, 25 new cases

Shillong, Dec 17: The number of active COVID-19 cases went up to 686 in Meghalaya with the detection of 69 fresh positive cases on Thursday, even as 70 more recoveries from the viral infection surged the number of recovered persons to 12,322.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said the new COVID-19 cases detected as on Thursdaty included 61 in East Khasi Hills district, two each in East Garo Hills district, Ri-Bhoi district, South West Garo Hills and one each in West Garo Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.

He also informed that 55 recoveries from the viral disease were recorded in EastKhasi Hills district on Thursday, eight in West Garo Hills district, three in East Garo Hills district, two in West Jaintia Hills district and one each in East Jaintia Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.

Meanwhile, of the 2,74,075 persons tested for COVID-19, 2,60,934 tested negative for the virus, while 191 persons were in institutional quarantine and 424 in home isolation, even as 73,170 persons from outside entered the State as on date.

Meghalaya, which had 22 containment zones, where COVIDd-19 positive cases have been detected, has so far registered 13141 confirmed cases, including 686 active cases, 133 deaths with one percent case fatality rate and 12,322 cases of recovery from the viral infection
