COVID cases in Meghalaya decreasing

Shillong, Mar 6: The number of active cases as of Saturday is decreasing with a lesser number of fresh ones being detected of late in the state.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that on Saturday the number of fresh cases detected was two and four persons recovered from the virus.

With this the total active cases in the state is now 12 and the total recovered cases stands at 13810.

Of the two new cases one was detected in Ri-Bhoi district and the second one who is from the armed/paramilitary forces was detected from West Garo Hills.

Of the four recovered cases two are from East Jaintia Hills district and one each from East Khasi Hills district and South West Garo Hills district.

East Khasi which was one of the most affected districts now has nine active cases. The other districts which still have active cases are Ri-Bhoi – one and West Garo Hills – two.

Dr. War informed that the total persons tested till Saturday afternoon is 3,76,332 out of which 3,62,362 tested negative.

The State has so far detected 13970 confirmed cases out of which 148 died of the virus.

The number of tests conducted on Saturday was approximately 1050.

The number of entrants from outside of Meghalaya till Saturday afternoon since restrictions on travelling was eased is 94,723.
