CSWO condemns rape of minors

Minor girl kidnapped

Shillong, Aug 11: The Civil Society Women Organisation (CSWO) has condemned the rape of minors that occurred in the outskirts of the city on August 8.

The CSWO said that the police have to arrest all those involved and bail should not be given especially when victims could identify, so that victims are assured and public at large will have confidence.

The organisation alleged that rape is on the rise, especially of minors in the state of Meghalaya.

The CSWO also insisted that the government should provide vehicles to the victims of rape to go for their counseling sessions, to give statements in court, so that they or their families do not have to spend money from their meager means since mostly affected in such cases are the vulnerable and the poor.

“Compensation for the victims of such crimes too should not be delayed and the funds meant for Compensation for victims of Rape and Violence should not be siphoned off,” the CSWO said.
