Death toll due to COVID climbs up to 79 with one more death in Meghalaya

Octogenarian recovers with 'limited role of plasma therapy'

Shillong, Oct 23: One more death due to COVID-19 were confirmed in Meghalaya on Friday . With this, the death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 79  in the state, even as 81 new positive cases and 111 recoveries were recorded.

The 81 new cases took the number of active cases to 1,631 and a total recovery of 7,091.

The new 81 cases include 51 from East Khasi Hills district( Armed forces/ para military forces 06 and others 45), 21  from West Garo Hills district ( Armed forces/ para military forces 07 and others 14),  06  from West Jaintia Hills district, and 01 each from East Garo Hills district, East Jaintia Hills district and South Garo Hills district .

Among 111 new recoveries, 74 are from East Khasi Hills district, 11 from Ri-Bhoi district ( Armed forces/ para military forces 01 and others 10), 07 each from South Garo Hills district and West Garo Hills district,  05 from East Jaintia Hills district, 02 each from South West Khasi hills district and West Khasi Hills district, and 01 each from East Garo Hills district,  South West Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.

Till date, Meghalaya has registered a total of 8,801 COVID 19 cases out of which 1,631 are active, 79 deceased and 7,091 recoveries.
