Shillong, Jul 23: With the aim of having a focused local outreach, the Meghalaya TMC today further expanded its wings through their membership drive that took place in Umlaper, Ri Bhoi.
Meghalaya TMC leaders Dr. Mukul Sangma, George B Lyngdoh, James Lyngdoh along with youth and student wing were present at the event.
Exposing the MDA Government as a proxy BJP government, TMC leader Dr. Sangma stated, “Immediately after the 2018 elections, the BJP implemented the current MDA government in our state. With regard to the areas of differences between Meghalaya and Assam, we had submitted a document in 2011 to claim back our rightful land. However, after the visit of the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the puppet MDA government simply obeyed their diktats like an obedient servant. This entire false narrative in Meghalaya is scripted by the BJP.”
Emphasising on the insensitivity of the MDA Government, Dr. Sangma duly reminded, “When all the North-eastern states unitedly opposed the CAA, all parties which are part of the MDA government, supported the draconian CAA Bill instead. We also witnessed one of the NPP MPs speaking in favour of the NRC at the Parliament. Meghalaya won’t forget or forgive this.â€
Honouring the indomitable fight of the SSA teachers, Dr. Sangma stated, “You have seen the agony that our SSA teachers had to go through. Many other workers like the ASHA workers and daily wage earners, are facing similar problems. Who is responsible?â€
Speaking on the state of employment, he said that the MDA government in the last five years has not created any new jobs.
According to him even the posts of primary school teachers are not filled inspite of MTET taking place and that the children are being deprived of a prosperous future.
Meanwhile, Lyngdoh further explained to the people of Mawhati the meaning of Trinamool Congress, the symbol, and the ethos of ‘Maa, Mati, Manush’.
Expressing heartfelt gratitude, he urged mothers, fathers, sons and daughters of Mawhati to strengthen the wings of the Meghalaya Trinamool Congress.
According to the party the Meghalaya TMC is determined to make a positive change in the state with regard to education, employment and statehood.
Meghalaya TMC leadership also hinted at raising state level issues in the Parliament ahead of the monsoon session.
