Shillong, Sep 30: Well known footballer from Meghalaya, Eugeneson Lyngdoh has decided to leave the football arena and take the plunge into politics.
Lyngdoh made this decision on Thursday after a meeting with his late father’s supporters, Syntar Klas Sunn, in his residence in Mawngap.
The supporters not only convinced him to contest the bye-election to the Meghalaya assembly seat but also asked him to contest from the United Democratic Party (UDP).
It may be mentioned that, Sunn who was an associate member of the UDP died on September 10.
Speaking to the supporters Lyngdoh said that he decided to contest the bye-election to carry forward the pending works of his late father.
Lyngdoh who has played for India, started at Rangdajied United, formerly known as Ar-Hima, he then played for a host of clubs – Shillong Lajong, Bengaluru FC in the I-League and in the ISL he has played for Pune City, Atletico de Kolkata and East Bengal.
