Felicitation Ceremony for NCC Group Shillong NCC Caders at Raj Bhavan

Shillong May 10: In a solemn ceremony in the Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan, the Honourable Governor of Meghalaya, Shri Phagu Chauhan felicitated 20 NCC cadets of Shillong Group NCC who had represented the State of Meghalaya in Republic Day Camp in Jan 2024 at New Delhi on 10 th May 2024. The Additional Director General of North Eastern Region (NER) Directorate of NCC Maj General Gagan Deep and Group Commander Meghalaya Group NCC, Brig Vijayant Mahadik were in attendance along with officers of NCC, proud parents and school principals, ANOs of these NCC cadets of Shillong Group NCC who were part of the North Eastern Region contingent of NCC at the Republic Day Camp (RDC) held in January 2024 at New Delhi.

The Honourable Governor and Maj General Gagan Deep also addressed the cadets and exhorted them to keep working towards the twin aims of unity and discipline. The Cadets were presented with a Certificate and cash incentive by the Honourable Governor in recognition of their effort. These cadets were selected after a grueling series of Pre-RDC Camps. In Delhi they participated in a variety of activities like Guard of Honour, National Integration Awareness Programme, Cultural Programme, Flag Area Competition, Prime Minister Rally.

It is also notable that four out of these twenty cadets were part of the NCC contingent which marched on the Kartavya Path in the Republic Day Parade of Jan 2024. It was also a very momentous and proud occasion for North Eastern Region NCC Directorate when the Honourable Governor presented a citation to the Maj Gen Gagan Deep, ADG and units of Meghalaya NCC in recognition of their stellar and exceptional service to the nation and community as NCC fraternity. The NCC NER Directorate is spread across all seven states of the North East with more than one lakh cadets and has provided exceptional service in community development, youth empowerment, adventure activities and disaster management. During the year the North Eastern Region NCC Directorate has done yeoman service in which 11 Cadets joined the Armed Forces as Officers, 276 joined as Agniveers and 120 joined the CAPF.
