Shillong, Mar 17: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma during the Question Hour informed the House that out of the 11 designated coal depots indentified in the state infrastructural work in six has been completed.
Replying to a supplementary question by West Shillong MLA, Mohendro Rapsang, Sangma said that there depots are located in East Jaintia Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills and South Garo Hills districts.
The Chief Minister also informed that the auction process to dispose the extracted coal has commenced and the first auction will be conducted shortly from the East Jaintia Hills district.
He also informed the House that the NGT in a recent order has put the minimum base price at Rs. 4850 per MT to auction the coal and the bid value will be based on the bidders who bid above the base price and whatever the bid value comes out 10 percent of that amount goes to Coal India Limited.
Sangma also informed the House that out of the 32. lakh MT of coal extracted coal lying all over the state in East Jaitia Hills there are 54000 MT that will be auctioned and in South Garo Hills 9000 MT.
Earlier, Sangma informed the House that the Supreme Court has directed that the entire extracted coal lying at various places shall be taken over by Coal India Limited for disposal and auction as per existing rules.
