Government asks CS to identify places for hawkers

Shillong Aug 13: The state government has instructed the Chief Secretary to complete the process of identifying places for hawkers.

“We discussed about identification of places for street vendors who earn their livelihood by selling different essential items. We have instructed the Chief Secretary to complete the process of identifying places for these hawkers so that the government can take a decision,” Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong said on Thursday.

Earlier, hawkers have threatened to start their business from August 17 and by themselves they would make arrangements which include maintaining social distancing and other health protocols.
