Shillong Sept 21: Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma said that the state government would look into alleged misuse of funds under the special assistance grant (SAG) given to the two autonomous district councils РGaro Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) and Jai̱tia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).

“It is not that the government has no concern over what has been mentioned but the government will definitely look into it and take action at an appropriate time,” Sangma said.

On the demand to have an inquiry by the CBI into the alleged misutilization of funds, he said that the government would see into it.

The state BJP has alleged corruption in the GHADC and JHADC and demanded a probe by the CBI into the alleged misappropriation of SAG funds.

The BJP alleged that over Rs 20 crore of SAG fund was diverted towards payment of salaries to the employees in JHADC in violation of the guidelines issued by the NITI Aayog.

In GHADC, the BJP alleged a documentary project worth Rs 5.82 crore was allotted without any tender or bidding process for supplying information, education and communication (IEC) materials to the Council.
