HFU extends best wishes to new DC of East Khasi Hills District and DCs of other districts

Shillong, Sep 4: The Hill Farmers’ Union (HFU) has extended its best wishes to South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo, who has been entrusted with the responsibility as the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District.

A statement issued by HFU President Central Body, Commander Shangpliang termed Laloo a ‘dynamic officer’ while stating that as an administrator of south West Khasi hills, she has gained the trust and confidence of the people especially farmers in the district.

“The capability and ability of this officer saw an effective management of the Covid-19 situation in the district which has so far detected only two Covid positive cases and both the cases are returnees,” Shangpliang said.

The HFU said that farmers in South West Khasi hills have immensely benefited during the tenure of Laloo as the Deputy Commissioner who had taken an initiative of inviting officers from the agriculture and allied departments in enlightening the farmers about the various benefits that should be availed from schemes offered by both central and state governments.

“The HFU extends its full cooperation to the newly Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills District in her future endeavor especially the need to improve existing markets as well as take steps to strengthen market linkages which will help the farmers increase their income as desired by the government,” Shangpliang said.

The HFU also conveyed its best wishes to all the Deputy Commissioners of various districts in the State and sought their support and guidance on how to overcome challenges being faced by the farmers across the state.
