HITO alleges pregnant women being compelled to work during Covid

Shillong, May 14: The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO), has written to Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, of pregnant women who are compelled to attend their duty amidst the COVID-19 second wave.

“They are at risk if continue to continue to do so,” the HITO said.

“With a sense of responsible and concern to the pregnant the HITO urge the government to exempt them from work during these lockdown period as to enable them to save their health from the deadly COVID-19 infection with immediate effects,” the organisation added.

The organisation said that if any pregnant woman is found to be tested positive while on duty the government shall take the responsibility and bare all the cost.

The HITO said that during the first wave of the COVID-19 in 2020 all the pregnant women were exempted from work but during these second wave they are forced to work.
