Shillong, July 19: IIM Shillong has recently registered 400 participants for its Post Graduate Program (PGP) in Management, leading to the MBA degree. This is the 17th batch of this program, as the Institute has come a long way since the inauguration of its first batch on 4th July 2008. The registration process witnessed the enrolment of students from diversified backgrounds who made it to this prestigious institution of national importance after years of hard work and dedication.
Admissions to PGP 2024-26 was rigorous, beginning with the CAT examinations. This year, IIM Shillong received 2,29,533 applicants. The subsequent Personal,
The interview (PI) process, conducted in major cities including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Kolkata from February to April 2024, ensured a thorough evaluation of candidates on parameters such as Communication Proficiency and Personal Interviews. 400 participants were selected to join the PGP 2024-26 batch.
The PGP 2024-26 batch demonstrates a balanced gender ratio with 45% female and 55% male participants. The average age of the batch is 23.7 years, with the youngest participant being 20 years old and the eldest 29 years old. Participants come from diverse academic backgrounds, with 35% holding Engineering degrees and 65% from Non-Engineering disciplines. Apart from undergraduate degrees, participants also hold a variety of master’s degrees such as MA, MCom, ME, MS/MSc, MSc-Integrated, and MTech-Integrated.
A significant 72% of the batch brings prior work experience, enriching classroom discussions with practical insights. The batch represents a wide geographic spread, with participants hailing from 21 states and 2 Union Territories across India The new batch, PGP 2024–26, will embark on their educational journey at IIM Shillong, better known as Campus in Clouds, which refers to the picturesque location of IIM Shillong amidst the beautiful hills and scenic landscapes. The serene and inspiring environment serves as a backdrop for the student’s academic pursuits and personal growth.
Prof. D P Goyal Director of IIM Shillong, acknowledged that IIM Shillong has maintained its position as one of the preferred destinations for higher studies, attracting students from various backgrounds. Addressing the commencement ceremony of the 17th batch of the PGP 2024-26, Prof. Goyal commended the participants for their perseverance and dedication throughout the rigorous admissions process. Moreover, Prof. Goyal mentioned that Shillong, known as the education hub of the Northeast region, has a reputation for being one of the safest places in the country. He emphasized, the importance of feeling secure in your
surroundings, as it enhances the learning environment and promotes personal growth.
Over the past 16 years, since its establishment in 2007 as the 7th IIM, the Institute has achieved remarkable milestones. The institute has earned recognition by winning prestigious national awards, highlighting its commitment to academic excellence and innovation in management education. Additionally, IIM Shillong has been successful in positioning itself among the top IIMs in the country and as a preferred institution among prominent recruiters.
