In boost to BJP in Mawsynram hundreds join party

Shillong, Aug 9: The BJP on Tuesday got a boost in Mawsynram constituency after hundreds joined the party months ahead of the Assembly polls.

Those who joined the BJP mostly consisted of supporters of Mawsynram MLA, Himalaya Shangpliang.

It is expected that Shangpliang himself will join the party before the MLA election slated for early next year.

The supporters were welcomed to the party by BJP legislator and former cabinet minister, AL Hek and other senior party leaders in a function held at the party office in Shillong.

Hek said that in the days to come in the different constituencies many will be joining the BJP.

“Many sitting MLAs and former legislators will be joining the party,” Hek claimed.

He also said that the party will contest in more than 40 seats out of the 60 constituencies in the 2023 Assembly elections.

Hek also said that the BJP will do its best to ensure that after 2023, the government will be led by the party.

He also said that the party will fight the 2023 Assembly elections on its own and there will be no pre-poll alliance.

The BJP legislator also said that nobody can deny the fact that due to the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his spotless image therefore many people are joining the BJP.

Hek also said that the BJP is growing stronger throughout the state.
