Shillong, Sept 30: Six people died as a bus carrying at least 22 passengers fell in a river bordering East Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills district at Nongchram village at around 12 am of September 29 .
The MTC night bus, with 22 passengers onboard, was reportedly travelling at a very high speed between Tura and Shillong when it skidded off the bridge at Nongchram and plunged into the Ringdi river .
Meanwhile, Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma has expressed grief at the demise of the six person in the accident.
“Pained by the unfortunate MTC bus accident at Nongchram Bridge that claimed precious lives. My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and I wish speedy recovery to those injured,†Conrad Sangma tweeted.
