Shillong, Aug 24: The Meghalaya Cabinet has hiked the price of petrol and diesel in the state, Minister James K Sangma informed.
“As you may be aware the state of Assam hiked the rates of petrol and diesel and as is the practice which has been followed in the state of Meghalaya for a very long time whenever the rates of our neigbouring state are changed commensurate to that government of Meghalaya also revises its rate of petrol and diesel to take advantage of the price differential,†Sangma said.
He informed that the rate of petrol in Byrnihat would now be Rs. 95.10 and in Shillong it would be Rs. 96.83 in Shillong and the rate of Diesel would be Rs. 83.50 in Byrnihat and in Shillong it would be Rs. 84.72.
The state cabinet has also given its nod to the repeal of the Meghalaya Street Vendors (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act, 2014, and adopted the Regulation of Street Vending Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vendors Rules 2022.
