Meghalaya government reiterates call for eligible citizens to get vaccinated

Shillong, Jan 7: The Meghalaya government on Friday has urged all eligible citizens of the State to get themselves vaccinated.

Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong speaking to reporters after the review meeting on the Covid-19 situation in the State urged all right from 15 years and above to get themselves vaccinated.

On the question of how despite getting the vaccine some are still infected by the virus, Tynsong said that although they get it but the severity and hospitalisation rate is very less.

“Those who are already vaccinated and although infected do not need to go to the hospital. They will recover by themselves because of the vaccination,” the Deputy Chief Minister said.

“So I would request once again to all the citizens of the State you have this opportunity where you have the government creating vaccination centres even up to the village level. Please take this opportunity to get yourself vaccinated,” headed.

Meanwhile, on the issue of 50th year celebration of Meghalaya’s statehood, the government on Friday decided that the celebration has to go on.

We have directed the Chief Secretary, the Deputy Commissioners to bring out the detailed programme wherein by next week we will try to reduce the attendees as much as possible who will be part of the celebration.

“Celebration cannot be stopped but at the same time all the formalities will be presented by the Chief Secretary and all the Deputy Commissioners and thereafter the government will take a final call,” Tynsong added.
