Meghalaya records 20 fresh COVID-19 cases, 24 recovers

12 returnees from UK tests negative for COVID-19

Shillong, Jan 11: The state on Monday recorded 20 new cases of COVID-19 infection adding up to 151 active cases and 24 more recoveries from the viral disease surged the recovery figure up to 13,337 in Meghalaya .

According to the health officials , the new COVID-19 positive cases detected in the State today included  17 from East Khasi Hills district (Armed force/ Para-military force- 04,High Risk- 04,Laitumkhrah cluster- 01,Malki cluster- 01,Nongrah cluster- 01,Nongthymmai cluster- 01,Polo cluster- 01,Returnee- 03 and Sadew cluster- 01) and 01 High Risk each from East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills and West Khasi Hills District.

East Khasi Hills, which includes Shillong, is the most affected district in the State with 111 active COVID-19 cases and 117 deaths related to the viral disease, while the case counts in the ten other districts are much lower.

Meanwhile, the cases of recovery from the viral infection recorded on Monday included 19 from East Khasi Hills District(Armed force/ Para-military force-01,High risk- 05,ILI case- 01,Police personnel- 01,Returnee- 01,SARI case- 02,Barapathar cluster- 01,Happy valley cluster- 01,Laban cluster- 03,Nongmynsong cluster- 01,Nongrah cluster- 01 and Rynjah cluster- 01), 03 from West Garo Hills district (Armed force/ Para-military force- 01 and High risk- 02) and 02 High Risk from West Khasi Hills district.

Meghalaya has so far registered 13,631 COVID-19 cases, including 143 deaths, 151 active cases and 13,337 recoveries.
