Meghalaya records 298 new recovered cases, 101 new Covid-19 infections

Shillong, Oct 17: The State on Saturday, registered 298 recoveries from COVID-19 infection.

This is the highest number of the number of recoveries in a single day so far taking the number of total recovered cases to 6,034, even as 101 new infections were recorded taking the active cases to 2, 295 in the State.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said that of the new recoveries registered on Saturday, 223 were from East Khasi Hills district, 55 from Ri-Bhoi district, 18 from West Garo Hills district and one each from East Jaintia Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district.

Dr. War also informed that out of the 101 new COVID-19 positive cases, 56 were detected in East Khasi Hills district, 30 in West Khasi Hills district, 11 in West Garo Hills district, two cases in Ri-Bhoi district and one each in South West Garo Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district.

With 1,521 active Covid-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, including Shillong is the most affected district in the State.

The State has so far detected 8,404 Covid-19 cases, of which 75 are deceased, 2,295 active and 6,034 recoveries.

The Director of Health Services also informed that till Saturday afternoon, swab samples of 1,85, 467 persons were taken, of whom 17, 7063 tested negative, while the case fatality rate in the State is 0.90.

While 1,092 persons are in institutional quarantine, 683 are in home quarantine/isolation, even as currently, there are 66 containment zones in the State, he said.
