Meghalaya records seven new COVID-19 cases, five recovers

Shillong, Jan 20: Meghalaya registered seven new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking up active  cases to 133, even as seven more persons have recovered from the viral infection, surging the recovery figure to 13,440.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War said informed that six new cases were detected in East Khasi Hills district and one in West Garo Hills district.

East Khasi Hills district, which includes Shillong, is the most affected district in the State with 100 active cases including two patients from Armed Forces and Para-Military Forces.

War said the seven new recovered cases were recorded in East Khasi Hills district.

Four districts of the state – South West Khasi Hills, South West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and East Garo Hills are presently COVID-19.

Till date, the total number of samples tested stands at 3, 21, 819 out of which 3, 08, 102 tested negative,  War said, adding that a total number of  84,702  persons have entered the state since restrictions on travelling was ease.

Meghalaya has so far registered 13,717 COVID-19 cases, which include 144 deaths, 133 active cases and 13,440 recoveries.
