Meghalaya records another Covid death, till rises to 101

Meghalaya witness spike in COVID-19 cases, 31 new cases detected

Shillong, Nov 16: The State today recorded another COVID-19 related death. Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the death occurred in West Garo Hills district.

With this the number of fatalities due to the viral infection has risen to 101, Dr. War informed.

The Director of Health Services also informed that 41 fresh cases were registered in the last 24 hours taking the active case count to 933, even as 78 more recoveries took the number of recovered persons to 9,672.

The Director of Health Service (MI), informed that the new COVID-19 cases detected  included 17 in East Khasi Hills district, 14 in West Garo Hills district, six in Ri-Bhoi district, three in South West Garo Hills district and one in North Garo Hills district.

East Khasi Hills, including Shillong with 291 active cases and Ri-Bhoi with 281 active cases are the two most COVID-hit districts in the State.

Meanwhile, 24 more recoveries from the viral infection were recorded in East Khasi Hills district, 17 in Ri-Bhoi district, 13 in West Garo Hills district, nine each in East Jaintia Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district, four in East Garo Hills district and two in South West Garo Hills district.

On the other hand, of the 2,20,717 persons tested till date, 2,10,011 tested negative for Covid-19, even as 194 persons are in institutional quarantine and 516 are in home isolation in the State, which had 38 containment zones as on Monday.

Meghalaya has so far registered 10706 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 933 active cases, 101 deceased with case fatality rate at 0.94 and 9672 recoveries from the viral
disease.
