Meghalaya records one more COVID-19 cases, 307 recovered from the virus

Octogenarian recovers with 'limited role of plasma therapy'

Shillong, Oct 22: The state recorded one more death due to COVID-19 on Thursday taking the number of fatalities to 78.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the new death has been recorded in West Jaintia Hills district.

Dr. War informed that with 99 fresh cases the active cases is now 1,661, while 307 more patients also recovered from the viral infection bringing the number of recovered cases in the State to 6,981.

The Director of Health Services, informed that the deceased has been identified as Fullmai Dhar (37) of Nartiang village in West Jaintia Hills district.

“Her cause of death is cardiac pulmonary arrest with COVID-19 with acute respiratory distress syndrome and Type I respiratory failure,” he said.

Of the new cases, the senior medical officer said that 46 were detected in East Khasi Hills district, 29 in Ri-Bhoi district, 12 in West Garo Hills district, seven in South Garo Hills district, two in West Jaintia Hills district and one each from North Garo Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district and West Khasi Hills district.

War also informed that the State saw 307 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the viral infection that include 204 patients in East Khasi Hills district, 51 in Ri-Bhoi district, 28 in West Garo Hills district, eight in South Garo Hills district, seven in South West Khasi Hills district, three in South West Garo Hills district, two each in East Garo Hills district and West Jaintia Hills district and one in East Jaintia Hills district.

Till date, 1,93,190 samples have been sent for testing of whom 1,84,470 came out negative.

Meghalaya has detected a total of 8720 COVID 19 cases, out of which 1661 are active, 78 deaths and 6981 are recovered cases.
