Meghalaya records one more COVID-19 death

No fresh COVID-19 cases detected in Meghalaya on Monday

Shillong, Feb 2: The State on Tuesday recorded another COVID-19 death taking the number of fatalities to 147, health authorities informed.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the de kiceased has been recorded as Nurul Amain (65), from Nagoan, Assam. He was brought to NEIGRIHMS on January 27 with complaints of cough.

“Patient had a known case of acute coronary syndrome and he tested positive for COVID-19.

Dr. War said that on January 30, the patient developed shortness of breath and was declared dead at around 7:35 pm.

NEIGRIHMS authorities said that the immediate cause of death was cardiogenic shock, the antecedent cause was acute coronary syndrome and COVID-19 positive states and the contributing cause was hypertension.

Dr. War also informed that on Tuesday, the state recorded four new cases and nine recovered from the virus.

Of the four fresh cases – three were recorded in East Khasi Hills district and one in West Khasi Hills. Of the recovered cases – eight were recorded in East Khasi Hills and one in East Jaintia Hills.

With this the number of active cases has dropped to 56 and the total number of recovered cases stands at 13565.

East Khasi Hills, the most affected district now has 45 active cases.

The number of persons tested for COVID-19 till date are 3, 38, 615 while a total of 3, 24, 847 have tested negative for the virus. The state has so far recorded 13768 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

Since restrictions on travelling were eased the number of entrants into Meghalaya has reached 88535.
