Meghalaya registers another COVID-19 death, toll rises ton 144

Meghalaya records two more Covid fatalities

Shillong, Jan 13: The state on Wednesday recorded another COVID-19 death after a person from Silchar, Assam succumbed to the viral infection. According to the Director of Health Service (MI), Dr. Aman War, with the latest casualty, the number of fatalities in the state has gone upto 144.The deceased has been identified as Abdul Gaffur Laskar (65).

He was brought to NEIGRIHMS on January 11 and he expired on January 12 of COVID-19 and the immediate cause of death was Trifascicular block and cardiac arrest.

Meghalaya also recorded 18 new cases and nine persons recovered from the virus.

With this, the active cases are 160 and the total recovered cases stands at 13365.

So far, 3, 12, 221 persons have been tested for COVID-19 virus out of which 2, 98, 552 tested negative, Dr. War informed.

He also informed that 82, 340 people have entered Meghalaya till Wednesday afternoon.
