Shillong, Jan 19: Meghalaya on Tuesday registered more recovered COVID-19 cases than fresh ones, thereby bringing down the number of active cases.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the state recorded three new COVID-19 cases taking active cases to 133, even as 18 more recoveries from the viral infection surging the recovery figure to 13,433 on Tuesday.
Dr. War said the three new cases were recorded in East Khasi Hills district, which includes Shillong, is the most affected district in the State with 101 active cases including two patients from Armed and Para-Military Forces.
He also informed that East Jaiñtia Hills district has 14 active cases, while West Jaiñtia Hills district has nine cases active cases followed with two cases in West Khasi Hills district, one in West Garo Hills district, besides three each in Ri-Bhoi district and North Garo Hills district.
Four districts of the state – South West Khasi Hills, South West Garo Hills, South Garo Hills and East Garo Hills are presently free from COVID-19.
Of the new recoveries, Dr. War said 14 are from West Jaiñtia Hills district, two in East Khasi Hills district and two in East Jaiñtia Hills district.
Till date, the total number of samples tested stands at 3, 20, 181 out of which 3, 06, 471 tested negative, Dr. War said, adding that a total number of 84,347 persons have entered the state since restrictions on travelling was ease
Meghalaya has so far registered 13,710 COVID-19 cases, which include 144 deaths, 133 active cases and 13,433 recoveries.
