Meghalaya reports 2 more deaths due to COVID-19 ; toll rises to 110

235 recovers in Meghalaya, 79 fresh COVID cases detected

Shillong, Nov 22: Two more COVID-19 patient died in Meghalaya, taking the fatality count in the State to 110, while 70 more persons tested positive for COVID-19, taking the number of active cases to 897 on Sunday.

99 new recoveries has been reported today, taking total number of recovered patients to 10,335.

 

Till date, the State has registered 11,342 COVID-19 cases, of which 897 are active,110 deceased and 10,335 have recovered.

The state on Sunday recorded two more COVID related fatalities. The first death recorded was that of Pramood Thakur, 46-year old man from Madanryting, Shillong.

Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that the deceased was brought to the emergency unit of the North Eastern Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) on November 20 with a history of pulmonary TB and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

During the course of his treatment he tested positive for COVID and was isolated but on the evening of the same day he expired at 9 pm.

NEIGRIHMS said that the immediate cause of death was type I respiratory failure, antecedent cause was active pulmonary with destroyed left lung and the contributing cause was COVID positive.

The second death recorded on Sunday was also registered in NEIGRIHMS.

According to the hospital authorities, the deceased Albert Wann was brought to the emergency on November 19 after he fell from a height.

The deceased tested positive for COVID and his condition deteriorated. He was declared death on November 20 at 6 pm.

The immediate cause of his death was raised intracranial pressure, the antecedent cause was sub dural hematoma with mass effect and contributing cause was COVID positive.
