Meghalaya reports 246 new Covid-19 cases, 6 death

COVID: Meghalaya records 26 fresh cases, 23 recovers from the virus

Shillong, May 03: Meghalaya reports 246 new Covid-19 cases,6 death and 177 new recovered according to the latest health bulletin on Monday.

With this  total Covid death has climbed to 185, active cases is now 1,884 and 15,606 have recovered from the virus so far.

East Khasi Hills district has the highest number of active cases with 1,205, Ri-Bhoi 194, West Jaintia Hills 101, East Jaintia Hills 97, West Garo Hills 122, West Khasi Hills 63, South West Khasi Hills 23, South Garo Hills 16, East Garo Hills 30, South West Garo Hills 18 and North Garo Hills 15.

Earlier, the government had asked the public of the state to restrict movement to stop the spread of the virus.

Meghalaya Chief Secretary, M. S. Rao said that this was necessary so that the health care system was not over burdened.

Rao said that hospital bed occupancy is rising sharply.
