Shillong, Apr 12: The Meghalaya Human Rights Commission (MHRC), taking suo motu cognizance of the killing of a daily wager in the city on April 10 has sought a report from the Meghalaya government.
The Commission has issued a notice to the Director General of Police, Meghalaya, to submit an Action Taken Report within 15 days.
The daily wager Arjun Ray (52) was assaulted by miscreants in Mawlai Mawroh on April 10 morning.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 11 am when unknown miscreants assaulted three labourers leaving one dead.
The victim is a resident of Nongmensong locality of the city. Severely injured he was taken to NEIGRIHMS where he died.
