Shillong, August 28: In light of advancing Meghalaya Mission 2028 and promoting technological interventions in the State, the Department of Information Technology & Communication, Government of Meghalaya has entered into a MoU with the National Institute for Smart Government (NISG) a not-for-profit agency established by the Government of India in 2002 under the administration of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in the presence of officials from Government of Meghalaya, Sampath Kumar IAS, Development Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Pravin Bakshi IAS, Commissioner & Secretary IT&C and officials from NISG, Veerraju Naidu, Chief Finance Officer and Regional Business Head, Murali Bommireddy Associate Vice President, Chakradhar Vunna, Senior General Manager and Stephen Anurag Prathipati, Project Officer, at the Additional Secretariat building in Shillong.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma expressed that Meghalaya, being a key promoter and shareholder of the National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), the Government of Meghalaya would like to utilize the services of NISG as a primary nodal agency of the State under the Department of Information Technology and Communication and mainly develop a state-of-art Centre of Excellence in Emerging Technologies to promote technological capabilities, enable employment in the IT sector to the youth of Meghalaya.
As per the MoU, NISG shall facilitate industrial establishments for employment and services Lead deliberation and collaborations with Ministries, International Financial and development agencies, academic and research institutions, and other key stakeholders to identify solutions, help develop action plans and support PMUs, and act as a distinguished prospective link for the State of Meghalaya and the Union.
Rajiv Bansal, Chief Executive Officer NISG and former Secretary to the Government of India expressed that this partnership would assist Meghalaya as a premier strategic advisory thinktank and help translate government goals and policy priorities with reform agenda into tangible actions with a focus on smart government and undertake e-Governance capacity building initiatives with special emphasis in the AI and other emerging technologies to the employees of the Government of Meghalaya.
Also expressing his remarks, Sampath Kumar, Development Commissioner and Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya appreciated NISG which continues to support in delivering public policy and technological interventions to the State and welcomed their strategic expertise to other departments for enhancing human capabilities in the State.
